The Franciscan Missionary Sisters have been serving the destitute and refugees in Tijuana since 1949. They operate a soup kitchen, bodega, roperia, medical clinic, jail ministry and a social service office in the Colonia Altamira district. They reach thousands each week with their kindness and love. The needs of these poor are endless and especially urgent in the winter months. All Hallows parishioners provide financial support throughout the year, but we come together to do even more during the Advent season. On November 30 and December 1 (the First Sunday of Advent) the sisters will speak to our congregation at all the Masses. An opportunity to make a financial donation will be provided. You will notice that there will be boxes in the Foyer during December. You are asked to consider filling them with unwrapped simple toys. They will be included in a Christmas distribution. Last year, families came early by foot or bus from distant “neighborhoods” to spend the cold night on the street outside the Casa. The next day they were given a hot breakfast as the food baskets, blankets, toys and clothing were distributed. In all, 100 baskets made the feast of Christmas a happy one. Parishioner, Pat Erzinger is the dedicated coordinator of this effort at All Hallows. Donated goods may be left at her home at 6432 Cardeno Dr. and contributions sent to her for Casa de los Pobres, USA
