This weekend we focus on a Culture of Life in San Diego through the work of Birthline.

“At Birthline, we believe in the power of compassion to transform the lives of families in need.  By really listening to our clients with an open heart and by offering nurturing guidance, we have been able to help our clients better care for themselves and their children on their path to independence.  We are experts in the needs of vulnerable families with young children or a baby on the way and distribute not only free supplies (like diapers, food, formula, clothing, strollers, car seats, breastfeeding supplies and so many other items) but referrals for the most basic of needs like safe housing, food resources, job training, education and access to prenatal care and healthcare.

Dear Fellow All Hallows Parishioners,

              It is Right to Life month and the parish is again supporting Birthline Pregnancy Support Center of San Diego. Birthline’s mission is to provide “life-affirming support and services” to our clients – pregnant women and families with children age 6 and younger – who can visit our Clairemont office once a month. We assist women facing unplanned pregnancies and provide material assistance and case management for women who have chosen to raise their child.

              As an essential community service we have remained open during the Covid-19 pandemic and have had to adjust our services to comply with safety concerns. Many clients previously on their own have returned for services because of job loss and other personal tragedies. All services have been moved outside so clothing shopping and indoor counseling are no longer possible. We have concentrated on the most basic needs of our mostly low-income clients and their families.

              We are able to obtain food boxes and diapers from the San Diego Food Bank at low or no cost for our clients. What we are most in need of from you our generous parishioners is first of all prayers for our mission and secondly financial support for our four most needed items.

These items are:

1. Formula $50
2. New Mom Gift Bag $100
3. Pac n Play $150
4. Infant Car Sat $200

I encourage you to look at our Birthline display during the month of October to see our most needed items. If you feel called to do so please take an envelope and make a donation to put in the box on the table or mail in to the address on the envelope. Please call before dropping off any items as our hours are limited due to the Corona Virus.
