Special Collection: Retirement Fund for Religious and Stewardship
01/07/2021 - 01/08/2021
“We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.” Winston Churchill
When you give to this cause it is an exercise of stewardship. An envelope is in the back of Church to be returned to the collection any time this month. All the money that is collected is sent to the National Religious Retirement Office in Washington, D.C. and they want us to know that less than five percent of your donations are used for administration and fundraising. All others are applied to their mission of care for the elders of religious life.
But more important, this is about how you benefit from giving. As Catholics, we know a special opportunity to respond with gratitude for the elderly religious comes along just once a year with the aid you provide in the envelope for them.
You are in turn will be remembered all year in the daily prayers of thousands of women and men who benefit from this appeal. That could well be a very powerful thing in your life for a situation still unknown.
So, this is a gift that comes at a very special time of the year, a new year, that we give out of gratitude for all that the religious have given to us. We are called to give back a small portion.
“We must ask ourselves: Do we… wish to be disciples of Jesus Christ and Christian stewards of our world and our Church.”
