Meatless Meals: Southern Grits Casserole

6 c. water
1 1/2 c. grits, instant or regular
1 tsp. salt, to taste
1 stick melted butter
10 oz. extra sharp cheddar cheese, grated
3 large eggs, beaten
1/4 c, milk
1 T. Worcestershire

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Boil water. Gradually add grits, stir until thickened. Do not overcook. Add salt, stir in butter and cheese. Slowly, and while rapidly stirring, add eggs. Stir in milk and Worcestershire and pour in 3 qt. greased baking dish. Bake for one hour, according to your oven. Note: Traditionally served in a silver bowl as a good holiday side dish instead of potatoes.
