Reverend Pruitt’s mountain bike was stolen, yet he was able to make something especially good happen when he was able to look beyond his understandable frustration to consider the theft from another perspective. “That’s what Jesus is asking of us today,” says Father Jerry in his homily, “to go beyond the letter of the law, to realize the spirit of the law, to move beyond our own perceptions and see things from one of the many other sides, to seek ways of changing a bad situation into something new and good, preferring to restore what is broken and lost, before punishment and retribution.”
