“We received life freely. We paid nothing for it. Consequently, all of us are able to give without expecting anything in return; to do good to others without demanding that they treat us well in return,” says Father Jerry in today’s homily.

“The generous gardener in today’s Gospel models our Holy Father’s idea of gratuitousness: to do what is good for the struggling fig tree, because it is good in itself, not for whatever return that goodness may bring,” adds Father.
