Tuesday after the 2nd Sunday of Easter

In yesterday’s Gospel reading, we learned that Nicodemus had been talking with Jesus about being born again. Their conversation continues in today’s Gospel; Nicodemus can’t seem to make sense of something that’s not physical or tangible. He does not understand a spiritual re-birth.

Father Jerry’s homily today reflects on our modern-day tendency to think a little too much about the physical world. “See all this stuff: cars and clothes and 40% off sales. That’s not what really counts,” he says. While some of these things certainly help us get by from day to day, he suggests that a little more balance is a good idea.

To end what might be the shortest homily of 2020 (maybe it’s 40% off), Father’s Jerry’s last sentence is worth its weight in gold, and just might be the thing you need to hear today.
