Tuesday of the 12th Week in Ordinary Time

“We’ve all been walking through a lot of narrow gates lately, haven’t we?” asks Father Jerry. “We’ve been confined behind the narrow gate of our own homes. We’ve had to cautiously make our way through the few gates that are open to us observing the new realities of social distancing and face masks.”

He adds, “In the weeks and months ahead, we’ll have to find new entries to school, work and play. Maybe we’ve rediscovered the importance of our families in our lives, or we now have a new appreciation for the opportunity to work and to learn, or we no longer take for granted the simple joys of going to a movie, of walking along the beach, or gathering at the Lord’s table.” As Jesus says, narrow gates are hard to negotiate, but the struggle opens to us the life of God.
