Today Father Jerry shares an excerpt from Bread Body Spirit: Finding the Sacred in Food by Alice Peck. She writes, “For me, the ultimate privilege is to serve someone birthday cake. I will only serve cakes that I have made myself from scratch. Real vanilla, fresh eggs, in a flavor that is personal to them. In the end, serving is important because it is so personal. You are giving someone their sustenance, their energy, and, when done with intention, a little slice of joy.”

Then Father reflects on today’s Gospel reading, “The story of Martha and Mary illustrates the blessing of both giving and receiving of realizing that others have much to give us and that we are blessed in their generosity.”
