My sheep hear my voice I give them eternal life.

Today’s Gospel provides more insight into the relationship between the sheep and their shepherd — us and Jesus Christ — and teaching us the meaning of discipleship. If we open our hearts, and not simply our ears, we will recognize His voice. We hear His voice in prayer. We hear His voice through reading His Word. We hear His voice in our encounters with others. True discipleship entails listening to our Shepherd, then responding with trust as we place ourselves into His hands.
