So many of Jesus’ parables use plants, and in this case, trees to make their point. The good tree bears good fruit. The bad treat bears bad fruit.

If a tree is bad, it is cut down and thrown into the fire. In the story Little Red Riding Hood, there is a wolf disguised as a grandmother, or a tree that bears, bad fruit. These are clues that prompt us to look underneath the surface of those who seek to lead us astray.

It is not always easy to find the false prophets in our lives, but through prayer and with God’s help, our clear eyes and heart will help us to see them.
