Friday after the 2nd Sunday of Easter

In today’s reading from the Gospel of Saint John, Jesus uses just five loaves of bread and two fish to feed a hungry crowd of five thousand people. After the meal, the leftovers were collected and filled twelve wicker baskets! “Whoever comes up with a vaccine that will lead to the eradication of the coronavirus will be hailed as the next great prophet. His or her accomplishment will be honored in no less glorious terms than Jesus’ feeding of the 5,000 in today’s Gospel,” says Father Jerry, “We will hold up that vaccine as a true sign of God’s goodness in our midst.”
