Saturday, The Feast of St. Mark the Evangelist

In today’s reading from the Gospel of Mark, Jesus appeared to the Eleven and said to them, “Go into the whole world and proclaim the Gospel to every creature. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved.”

Father Jerry says, “Today the church celebrates the Feast of Saint Mark, the author of what many scholars and theologians believe was the first written narrative of the story of Jesus. The central theme of Saint Mark’s Gospel is how Jesus’ disciples just don’t get it.”

In Saint Mark’s Gospel, the Eleven become apostles, only when they recognize that the love of God is in their midst in the person of Jesus. See Father Jerry’s new video below for Saturday, April 25th.
