Monday of the 7th Week of Easter

“We might think of today’s first reading as one of the first adult confirmation ceremonies,” says Father Jerry. “On his travels to the city of Ephesus, Paul meets a group of believers. They had been baptized by John the Baptizer at the Jordan and believed in Jesus as the Christ. The idea of the Holy Spirit was alien to them, so Paul baptized them in the name of Christ and laid hands upon them, that the Holy Spirit might come upon them.”

In Baptism, we put on Christ, as Paul writes: Jesus’ life becomes our life. Jesus’ death becomes our death. Jesus’ resurrection becomes our hope. So let us take a moment today to give thanks for our baptisms, and let the Holy Spirit we received at confirmation illuminate our lives anew. See Father Jerry’s new video above and may God bless you this final week of Easter Joy.
