In today’s reading from the Gospel of Matthew, Mary Magdalene ran from the empty tomb to tell the disciples the Good News. Meanwhile, the guards told the Chief Priest what had happened. He then paid off the soldiers to keep it all quiet. They created a story and formed an alliance to protect each other from the Governor.

“When the unexpected threatens our safe little world we find a way to explain it away. Denying it. We work behind closed doors. We keep it between us,” says Father Jerry. “We have to be ready to face the consequences.”
