The 32nd Sunday in Ordinary Time

Today the church celebrates the 32nd Sunday in ordinary time. As the church reckons time, there are, counting today, four more Sunday celebrations in the old year. As the church reckons time, a new liturgical year begins with the 1st Sunday of Advent on November 29th. That’s the reason that for the next four weeks the church will be focusing our attention on the end times, reminding us that one day Jesus Christ will come again in glory.

The church’s year-end reminder is not meant to cause us undo fear. Rather, it is meant to shake us out of our apathy and nonchalance, so that we can get our priorities straight and be prepared to meet the Lord when He comes.
