The Feast of Saint Barnabas

“It is easy to compartmentalize one’s spiritual life and create comfort zones to feel right about oneself,” says Father Jerry in today’s homily, “One can also rationalize that reconciliation is secondary to worship and can be handled whenever. The phrase ‘your brother or sister has something against you’ suggests cases where we have wronged someone else, not where we have been wronged.”

He adds, “It can feel harder to seek pardon for our own wrongs than accept an apology from another person. Pride or fear of rejection often get in the way. There is no way to move toward God without drawing closer to others. And no way to approach others without coming near to God.”
